Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is a Plains Cree nation and a signatory to Treaty No. 6, with its main reserve northwest of Marcelin, Saskatchewan, and members living across the province and beyond.
The Nation is one of seven First Nations that make up the Saskatoon Tribal Council, together with Kinistin Saulteaux Nation, Mistawasis Nêhiyawak, Muskoday, One Arrow, Whitecap Dakota and Yellow Quill. Belonging to the council changes nothing about who governs here: Muskeg Lake elects its own Chief and Council and answers to its own membership.

The office
Run in-house, by one office.
The Post-Secondary Sub-Office administers this funding directly. There is no third-party administrator, no application portal, and no external committee deciding who gets funded. That is deliberate, and it is why a member can phone the office and get an answer the same week.
Anything outside post-secondary, including K to 12 and school relationships, is handled elsewhere in the Nation. This office and this site cover the post-secondary program only.
Post-secondary funding is administered by the Nation. Any figures, deadlines, or eligibility rules on this site are only as current as the last time someone at the office reviewed them. Call before you rely on them.
The program
Every member has the right to go further.
Muskeg Lake Cree Nation believes every band member has the right to post-secondary education. It is a way of preparing our members to enter the workforce with a profession or career, and a vehicle for continued advancement of our youth and young adults.
To that end, we offer financial support so eligible students from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation can pursue higher education. Tuition and fees are paid to the institution directly. Books and supplies, a monthly living allowance, and travel are covered on top of it.
The whole program runs on one application and two ongoing habits: a short declaration each month, and your marks at the end of each term.

What it is, and what it is not.
This site does two things: it explains the post-secondary program, and it sells Nation merchandise. It is not a member portal and it does not hold your file.
The community events calendar is the one part that needs an account. Access is approved by hand at the office, because the calendar is for members and not for the open internet.
Everything else — the program, the store — is open to anyone without signing in.
